running?

Having once again managed to finish the great north run I am in a state of great stiffness but feeling pleased with myself.
People often ask me how I achieve such commendable style and speed in my running (well, ok they don't but they could if they wanted to).
It's all down to a lifetime of living life on the edge and never having a moment to spare. I don't actually run at all, what i do is fall continually and constantly manage to get a leg out in time to save me from complete collapse.
But seriously, The run (and others like it) at a great social occasion and I always meet and chat with some great and inspirational characters from the teams running for a massive charity to the individual running to give themselves an achievement or to show the world that they are not beaten.
It was never truer that it isn't about winning, it's about taking part.

On running a mile

As I mentioned in an earlier post my kids all did the junior great north run yesterday. I did the run with Jack because he has to have an adult with him. As we crossed the start he grinned up at me and said 'I've waited for this all my life'

Throughout the run he constantly reminded me that winning isn't important and that it's more important to raise money for charity. I was impressed by the fact that he smiled continually all the way around.

later I told him how proud i was of all my children and he told me that I should be proud of every child that took part not just my own because they had all done so well.

This time I'm in a support role

We are about to set off for newcastle where the kids are all doing the junior great north run for various charities.

running in the family

it's only a few months until the family do the great north run.
This year everyone has chosen which charity to support.
Jacqueline and I are running for SCOPE (cerebral palsy) as our nephew has the condition
Rebecca, Sophie and Jack are running for the British Heart Foundation (due to Jack's heart condition)
Lauren is running for Meningitis UK (as our nephew lost his baby daughter to this disease last Christmas)
Tom is running for Hearing dogs as he wants to support their amazing work.

There will be lots of competition for sponsors lol
